Snow

We were centered around cold
From our dreams, to our sports
   Cold was a running motif
You played hockey, I slept in cold
I'd leave my fan on forever
You didn't mind it back then
You made me go to every game
I was proud to do the same
I became your biggest fan
And you became my best friend
   The cold kept us together
   The cold brought us apart

In 10 degree weather, you took me out
We took photos for art and fun
We didn't mind the cold then
Two months later, we began to thraw
Like ice and snow, we melted away
We grew apart, you say
The love running in your veins iced
You moved on, I tried to too
You found another man
I found myself wanting you

It was cold the day you left
   Not outside, not inside
Within my heart, I was cold
I'd never felt such icy isolation
   Then when you said goodbye
The last goodbye you'd ever give
I tried not to cry, but failed
You truly loved me, but now
   Your love turned into ice
   My heart turned into ice
      Our dreams turned into ice
      The future turned into ice
         Our past turned into ice
         The memories turned into ice
            My unthawed heart remains frozen
            With your icy, cold goodbyes
Now, I come to find it so
I've become allergic to the cold
