Sneaking a kiss

Location

Colors, letters, hide and go seek

The boy, best friend, imagination companion

Playground adventures we couldn’t abandon

Till the fatigue set and little bones weak

Time for a nap on a cot set in tandem

There was more to this friend a type of compassion

Not sleeping a wink I decided to sneak

To the base of the cot

Where my friend was asleep

I nudged him awake and he started to cling

To the hand I held forward as he caught

My gaze, a moment, I wanted to keep

What troubled life this would later bring
