The Skywalker Dilemma

Good, Evil, Black, White
Brightest day, darkest night

Thats how its taught to us
As we subject ourselves to blind trust

I would like to offer a different view
Like moving from your normal pew

Evil doesn't always mean
Rotten to the core
Yes there is the extreme
But from when you open and close that door
There is everything in between

Most often good and evil are mere perspectives
Example, England gave the colonies directives

But instead they revolted against the rules
Challenging England to a duel

Both were wrong but neither were evil nor good
The truth of the matter is splintered like wood

I would say that both were right
But our teacher, history, only remembers those who prevailed in the fight
As being right

When so many variables are on the board
It'll be hard to keep track of good and evil points scored

Because so often those with the moral high ground are mere
Inches above those at which they sneer

Even in movies its never black and white
Lets look at when the Skywalkers fight

Both sides wanted order and peace
But the rebellion, they refused to lose a piece

Of their soul but all power corrupts
And thats why the New Republic's end was so abrupt

They were lulled to sleep by their false sense of morality
Thinking it stopped them from becoming a casualty

Of power's grip
Now let's look at the flip

The empire gave up that piece
In their search for peace

But they gave too much away
That's why they couldn't say

They truly wanted the best for everyone
The enticements of power were just too fun

But in the end neither was an extreme
Its only in our dreams

That we can be all good
But in reality we should

Strive to learn from both sides
Not hide

When "evil" is at the door
Invite it in
Say "tell me more"
Knowledge isn't a sin

Learn all you can
Then stand

Firm in what you believe
Passion will help you achieve

The best version you can be
Because on both sides will you see

A moral birds eye view
I hope this has given you something on which to chew
