The Sky's Eyes

She said, “open the sky,”
And that's just what I did,
Even though impossibility slid
Avaricious fingers past my eye.

All I needed was the sight of her eyes:
Those beautiful brown orbs of earth set against the sky.

Maybe that's why
Such a request occurred;
Maybe her eyes (those beautiful brown orbs of earth
Set against the sky)—
The other sides—
Asked inside
Her head,
“Open the sky,”
Because they knew her,
Her eyes,
And maybe even I
Belong together
Someplace inside the sky.

So, the sunroof came undone,
Letting in the sun,
Yielding to my will,
Knowing she's the one.
