SKIN

One day you came to me

Your body like one big tear

You start shaking

Trembling like an earthquake

You start spitting out vulgar words

Someone made a statement about your skin

Seeing the tar spilling out of your mouth and pouring onto the floor

Surrounding us like a Black Sea that’s coming from within

I wish people didn’t give a damn about your complexion

But it’s sad to see that they do

You’re beautiful and I want you to know that

Because lately it seems that you don’t even know your own worth

During the day you blend in

But at night that’s when you truly shine

Bright as the stars your smile lights up my whole world

I love seeing you embrace your true color

The one that comes from the heart

And makes you radiate from afar

The world would be better if we were all color blind

We get in fights over race

Not realizing it doesn’t mean a thing

Your skin color means nothing to me

Just be who you are because that’s all i see
