Skin.

Location

She doesn’t say it, but she feels it.

Her skin is her curtain,

Her mask from the real world,

Her refuge from a past that has deemed her to hell.

Everything stays contained within the cellular wall that entraps her organs, bones, and blood.

She wants to scream and cry for help;

From the torture she’s seen,

What she’s felt,

And everything she no longer wants to feel.

Her curtain becomes her stage;

Bleeding red to show the audience the dramatic irony in this play.

Her magic act smiles across her face

Her drama slashes across her wrist.

She waits until someone figures out…

Shhhhh…

Keep quiet,

No one will know.

Her feelings seep out of her pours,

What was holding her together is falling apart.

Everything is visible,

Everyone knows,

The secret is out.

Catharsis.

Help.

Freedom.
