Sitting on the Shelf (Villanelle)

Mon, 05/27/2013 - 22:43 -- Vicalin

But the book could still look nice,
set on a shelf for rent,
with a sticker and a price.

It is met with craving eyes,
and minutes past, they are content -
but the book could still look nice.

Perfume and heels will entice,
for the book itself has pages bent -
with a sticker and a price.

Its value lessons after the vice,
and back on the shelf with another's scent,
but the book could still look nice.

Why read the same story twice?
Words cannot again present
with a sticker and a price.

Fate forever rolls the dice
to what lies permanent,
but the book could still look nice
with a sticker and a price.
