Simultaneously Out of Love

Things I wish I rid of

Your scent, your smile

Your laugh, your eyes

The way they light up

The way they’d bring warmth

Your impulsive behavior

Like walking with me,

Giving me your sweater,

And how you sang excitedly

Always waiting by the door

Grinning when I’d spot you

How you listened to my sorrow

And I listened to yours

How the night sky looked,

When we talked on the phone

The stars shined bright, I swear

Every time you laughed

How my heart raced before,

And how it still races now

But I can’t get rid of you,

Of the memories between us

We’ve fallen out of love,

But fallen in love with others

Yet it clearly isn’t enough,

I’ve fallen too in love with you

Everyone else isn’t enough

He’s not you, she’s not me
