SIMPLE

SIMPLE (CARPE DIEM)

It is simple

It is simple to engulf ourselves in anxiety over the work we must do

over the time we must spend

thinking

questioning

stressing

It is simple

It is easy to forget that we are receiving an education, one that children miles and miles away dream of

easy to forget that we have loving friends and people around us

that we are walking on the streets of a city that is admired around the world

that we have the freedom to create

explore

wonder

and dream

Our minds are slaves to our planners and agendas

Wondering what’s next or how we can get ahead

Where we have to be at what time

What we need to do and how long it might take

That we can’t take a sliver of a moment to look up and enjoy the view

How can our bodies be someplace but our minds be light years away?

How come we struggle with something that seems so

SIMPLE

Forgetting

Enjoying

Reminiscing

LIVING

Why has our world become comfortable with pushing ahead

To tomorrow, a year from now, a decade from now

Why can’t we enjoy what is right now

Enjoy the moment in which we are living

Without thinking... What’s next?
