Silent Lullaby

I sit on a cliff ledge

And watch the rocks fall

Ever since the cage stopped rattling

You were there

Five long years I've seen your face

Two short years I've come to know

You pulled me back into town

You calmed the symphony of nonsense

And shrunk my demons down to size

Now all that's left is a silent lullaby

The aftermath of a violent outbreak

And I can breathe once more

They say to write about what scares you

Is it scary, the gore

My pen creates or is it just

Time

A finite spectrum we bow down to

As it defines the blackness of the night

Sometimes my brightest stars get swallowed whole

Victim to the silly game again

Now I've taken a dark turn, friend

So it's back to the ledge for me

You say you want to join in

And catch the hues, the red, the blue

But who really needs silence?

I've got you

Your love

And a spectacular view
