Signs 2

Psalm 74:9

We do not see our signs;
There is no longer any prophet;
Nor is there any among us who knows how long.

Signs 2

It was a long time in coming

The signs I’ve seen from afar

Now they’re here all around me

I’ll try to catch them in a jar

All I catch is transparent

and I keep what I can see

It is a joke of my own making

speeding toward eternity

Once a youth and now too old

Time stood still along the way

The lesson ... that I should have taught

Is useless now ... from yesterday.

I should have been when I was called

a listening ear to opportunity

But it was then ... as it is now

a choice of lackluster fatality

Burn the bridge before I cross

The other side has no appeal

Swallowed up by ignorance

thinking that this life is real
