She Who Is Loved

Sat, 11/29/2014 - 18:10 -- LidaL

Pay no attention to that man

Who cowers behind the dusty, velvet curtain

The prospect of a first born son has been long overdue.

Please get over it.

She is a woman.

Just do it…

Pay no attention to that woman

Who covers herself with the luxurious, velvet curtain

The knowledge that she has acquired and cultivated is dangerous-

Please don’t look at her in that way.

She should be feared for her killer mind,

Not for her “killer” body.

Just do it…

PAY ATTENTION

Pay attention to that little girl

Who cues the curtain call

Revealing the cast of one

For it was she who had the pitiful backstory

For it was she who fought against all odds

For it was she who won the heart of the love interest- Herself

She is the first born daughter who only wants to live up to her name

For names are but a blessing from parent to child

A prayer for everything that you want them to be, and more

“She who is loved by the people”

She is the woman whose moral compass guides her through the bombardment of life’s citrus fruit

Who holds her ground, standing in the trajectory of “No”s and “You Can’t”s

And shatters the dreamt up idea of feminine perfection

She refuses to apologize if the contents of her heart, her soul, cannot give you an erection.

She is the child who has been the victim to no one but herself.

Who colors herself with what paints she can afford

And doesn’t dare color outside the lines, drawn by shirt sleeves and pant hems

Dark pigments of black, violet, and blue.

Just do it….

Please, pay attention to me.

For it is I who so wants to correct the words She and Her to Me, My, or I

For it is I who so wants to correct the word Herself with Myself

For it is I who so strongly wants to change the title to:

I AM LOVED

Just do it….

It is I who has battled the opposing forces, the temptations

to allow the literary term “tragic flaw” to end MY role,

to bring about an abrupt conclusion to MY existence

to succumb to that poisonous, alluring voice in MY head in coordination with MY fingertips

Just do it.
