She sat waiting for him to return

she stayed by her window

where she last saw him

walk through the front gate

she watched

as leaves fell

and dried up on the ground

then the snow fell

and covered the trees and grass

soon the squirrels came out

and the children were playing

as she sat

patiently

but hopefully

waiting for him to return
