Shadow Talk

Johnny:

My friend, you look familiar

Are you someone that I’m supposed to know

It almost seems that I should know you

Could it be that we have met once before

Shadow:

Yes Johnny, you knew me a very long time ago

But I left you for awhile, for you learned just how to smile

When you were with a certain woman that you know

Johnny:

Well it seems that you have always lingered near me

And now as I’m on the verge of all consuming  fire

Are you here to gloat on my misfortune

Or the purchase of my soul, are you the buyer

Shadow:

I’ll tell you this my friend and you had better listen well

I’m all you have now and there’s nothing left for you I’m afraid

For you no candle will be lit and you’ll hear no ringing of a bell

Johnny:

I’ve done all for anyone that’s ever met me

And mistakes I know I’ve made through out my life

If my rewards my time with you, please tell me what to do

For my heart is bleeding as if it’s been sliced with a knife

Shadow:

I’ve been waiting a long time for this wonderful day

And it feels good to see you finally beaten down

For your new LOVE now is me, get used to it, for now it’s gonna be my way

Johnny:

Now… I remember who you are, when I hung out at a bar

But I thought I finally washed my hands of you

You return to me like death, but I’ll fight you with my last breath

For I was born to love, live and laugh what else can I do

This poem is about:
Me
My family
