Shaded Black Veil

Location

My eyes slowly open wide

my eyes see the blackened room around me.

It's time to start another day,

Its time to fake another me.

Another day of the same old things,

another day of the same routine

My feet touch the frigid tile

my eyes look in the mirror to see me.

My eyes see nothing familiar,

It's the me lost within every lie.

I tilt my head right,

I tilt my head left.

I see what's wrong,

I reach up and grab that

jadded, faded, shaded black veil.

Pulling it over my face, I see

the me I see-

has never been me.
