Separate But Equal

What is wrong the world?
You feel worthless,
Scared, and alone.
No one to trust,
Not a hand to hold.
So many people
But not one’s your friend,
A world of shadows
Where nothing makes sense.
Everyone lies
So they can seem real,
Too many bad things,
It would be better to disappear.
In the world we live in,
Where is the hope?
Where is the faith ?
In this world we’ve built up,
They make it seem great.
But based on the color
Of my best friend’s skin,
She struggles to find a place
Just to fit in.
Separate but equal
Is such a pretty lie,
Nothing can erase
They dark shade of their sky .
Abused and left out
For something so simple,
Wouldn’t it be better
To see them as our equals.
