Senseless

it was the touch of your skin on mine
the way your lips moved like they knew me
as if they could have touched my darkest secret

you filled my dreams and consumed my thoughts
every bite i took was filled with your taste
you had become something in my veins

then it all happened so quickly
i was suddienly the only leaf
left on the oak tree in the fall

nights got longer and my bed got colder
all i felt was a frigid burn deep in my chest
smoldering my emotions and what all that was left
