The sensation of rain

the cool morning grass

slips between the cracks in my bare toes

and for once I am happy

I look into the angry gray clouds

and smile at them as I recall the sensation

of rain

droplets sprinkle my face

the water seeks into every crevice that I own

I close my eyes and my smile widens

The smell of morning rain, like a newly dewly lawn

and with my ears open I hear the crackling of thunder

and the response as the ground patters quickly, cowardly even

I open my mouth and experience the taste of the earth's eternal supply

as splotches collide with the miniscule tastebuds inside

I open my eyes once more and greet

the sensation of rain
