Self Contridiction

You were so beautiful
the world just couldn’t stand it
they had to destroy you
because anything that beautiful must be broken
and they did exactly that
you thought it was your fault
but the world just couldn’t handle how bright you shined
“cover it,” they said
“destroy yourself, and be like us”
and so you did.
dim and vacant
empty and boring,
the world may have been the one to break you
but it was you
who destroyed yourself
