"To See Beauty"

"To See Beauty”

I have always found myself fascinated
By the little aspects of life.

I’m mesmerized by bright lights
And soft colors.

I notice tiny actions:
The facial expressions that last but a millisecond.

I see through strangers' eyes and into their souls.
I know their pain, is nothing I can control.

If I were to change one thing about the world
It would be our eyes.

That we would not be so deceived by the lies,

And by the objectives thrown at our faces from all directions.

If those of us with the energy to change the world could see it as those who do not,

Would our world even be recognizable as it is today?

If I could see, as I often do not,

If I could empathize with those who have less,

Instead of ignoring them,

If I could give them a face to caress, a hand to hold,

Someone who could show them

That they are not alone.

If we could see humanity as a whole,

That we are all one;

It would be like the rising of the brightest Sun.

Can we see the beauty in the world we own?

The subtle blues of the sky and waves,

The way dandilions dance on a breeze.

If I could change one thing about the world,

It would be our eyes.

That we might see as children,

Enchanted by the simplest pleasures,

And satisfied only with acts that are kind.

If we could see the world in innocence,

Not prejudice and hate,

If we could start on a clean slate,

Could we change our fate?

Life’s a dance,

So get caught up in the trance.

Life’s a game,

So get playing!

Open those eyes to see the problems you choose ignore,
Open up the doors you were scared to before.

Glide out into the brightness of day
And don’t forget your fellow-man along the way.

See humanity for all the joy and beauty we are,
Change your eyes,
It can’t be that hard.

See Beauty,
In all the faults
And all the suffering.

See Beauty,
Simply because it’s the better choice
Than to see what repulses us.

There are two sides to every story,

Make sure you believe the right one;
See Beauty.
