Secrets of My Youth

What if I told you I always knew the truth?
Even in the darkness, I can see the light
Carrying secrets hidden by my youth.

Secrets hurting like the ache of a tooth.
Wanting to let go, yet held on too tight,
Always knew but couldn’t handle the truth.

So many people trying to sleuth
My secrets, I tried to hide in the night,
They have been searching since the start of their youth.

Keeping them inside made me feel uncouth,
To let them go was always a fight.
I, all along was afraid of the truth.

One day, we all gathered within a booth.
Couldn’t hold back with all of my might,
I released my secrets unto the youth.

Now that I am relieved, I feel so bright.
The day has come, I have no more fear.
I have come to face the unrelenting truth,
That I have feared since the start of my youth.
