Searching for Hope

Location

How old are we when we become corrupt?
Where along the way did we lose our innocence?
Better yet, when did we stop looking for it?
We curse, we hate, we live selfishly.
We live in a world where
women are raped,
people are murdered,
nations are terrorized, &
justice is not served.
Hope is hopeless
Faith is impossible &
Love is nonexistent
This is OUR WORLD.
We the people,
Make towns,
states,
nations,
countries,
continents.
Yet, we just build to tear down.
Who are we to blame?
Should we be faulted for being born into what can only be labeled as a genocide and not initiating a change?
Did we ever really stand a chance?
The monsters who were once
under our beds,
Are now roaming our streets
with guns, drugs, and alcohol.
We no longer fear the dark in
which we sleep,
We fear the bright daylight in
which we walk.
It’s a war without a cause.
An endless fight with no victor.
Corruption lurks behind the scenes &
Takes the only hope we have,
The innocent children.
