School Days

The student

Who sits in class

Is not really there

Her eyes distant

Her mind even further

The tap tap tap

Of her foot continues

As though keeping

An imaginary beat

Her head gently resting

Upon knuckles of her left hand

The day crawls along

So off she stares

As the day goes on

She's in her own place
