Scholarships

You say to write a poem in order to win,

and when it comes to trying, it makes my head spin.

So much stress is put on my back,

because when it comes to poetry skills, that's something I lack.

Books, housing, and tuition itself,

it'd be worth it all with a diploma on my shelf.

A college education is what we all need,

but a big oak can't grow without a little seed.

So I ask with the all the kindness of my heart,

can you please pretend this poem is art?

Give me a chance to win that prize,

and with a smile, I'll be sure to cry.

Once again, I beg and plead,

will you please give me the scholarship I need?
