A Scene from a Bridge in the Night
Staring down into those calm waters,
brings that odd feeling of confidence:
that confidence that never wavers,
that makes me see all my reliance.
Staring down into those cold waters,
forces my mind to quiver and flinch:
I look at myself and it shatters,
but I don’t move, not one single inch.
Dangling above those far-off waters,
I feel that icy embrace gripping me:
It takes over and my mind totters;
I lose it, I can no longer see.
Falling toward those ice-strewn waters,
all the air floods to meet my body,
and in this moment, nothing matters,
I doubt they will even look for me.
