Say I Love You

If those were the last words I said to you,

There would be regret.

Please don’t simply leave on a goodbye.

I can’t have this soft fall,

Hurt so much more than it should.

I see the dark forest has engraved itself into your soul,

Oh my – what dim secrets are you keeping from the world, me?

I need to see beauty brighter than the stars that float across the sky.

I need to tell you this:

You are my sunrise and I am your sky.

We are the aimless clouds among the stars.

There’s no destiny but togetherness.

We all hope that our last words are

Momentous,

And there’s never truly one

That we remember because

We know and love the best moments,

Out of every puzzle piece of our memories.

You being here is relieving my fall; maybe for the last time,

I will stand tall, hold your hand, bring you close, and . . .
