Satisfaction

I cry a little more now that I know
That they cannot understand—that they do not understand death
Or the beauty of holding a beautiful knife in one’s hand—
That they do not understand the satisfaction of believing in an escape
Or the relief from the thought “coming to an end” can create.
Reality comes in different shapes and sizes.
Though, people become deaf and blind and they pretend
They can hide it.
But their hopes are a mere curtain to the bitter world.
And their hopes underestimate the curiosity of a young girl.
They ignore the shattered life of a girl who is lost.
She has made many mistakes.
She has done many wrongs, and she has travelled across bridges
She should not have crossed.
But they will turn their heads and look the other way.
They will never understand and they will never see
The beauty that the knife becomes to me.
