Her name is Sarah.
And the pain controls her life.
She's so torn apart inside,
and she doesn't know how,
she can get the feelings out.
Sarah's friends tell her,
"Drugs will make you feel better!"
She doesn't know what else to do,
so she assumes what her friends say is true.
She takes what they give her,
and doesn't think twice.
And for a little while,
everything seems just fine.
She feels a little better.
But, she didn't understand
that it would get out of hand.
Now she's addicted, but the pain still stays.
It begins to grow stronger,
as she goes through the days.
All she knows, is she needs and escape.
Sarah sits alone
pain overwhelming her weary soul.
She sees the scissors lying on the floor.
Maybe this will be,
a better solution than before?
She grabs the blade,
as it grazes her skin.
Blood oozes out, and for a moment...
she's at ease again.
She cuts again,
on both of her arms.
Never realizing all of the harm.
After a while, the cutting doesn't help.
And neither do the drugs.
So she sits alone,
all of the time,
convinced she is going out of her mind.
Sarah sits on the floor.
Drugs in her veins,
scars on her arms,
tears streaming from her eyes.
She just doesn't know what to do.
Thinking about ending her life tonight,
because not a single thing is going right.
She looks around the empty room...
At the bottom of the stack,
under a load of dust,
is an old torn Bible.
It's calling out her name,
so slowly she picks it up.
She begins to read,
and gasps in shock.
She never knew what God could do.
He could make her feel brand new?
She went to a church,
and put her heart on the shelf,
and begged for help.
They took her in, and gave her guidance.
And now with God,
is her strongest alliance.
The pain begins to fade,
the drugs are out of her veins,
and the scars disappear.
She doesn't need those now.
Because now she has nothing to fear.
She knows nothing can ever touch her,
because her God is always near.
