The Safety of a Blanket

Thu, 08/06/2015 - 17:56 -- phia23

Recovery is hard,

And often sprinkled with days of relapse.

The scorching sun is nothing but a nuisance,

And the alarm blares responsibilities.

The world can seem so heavy

As you attempt to ignore your worries.

A dreaming child

Forced into the loose cloak of adulthood.

The day drags on,

And duties must be done.

The laughter of some, ringing in your ears,

Flaunting the happiness you try to so hard to keep.

A normal day

Invaded with thoughts of sadness.

At home at last,

Away from the smiles,

 And the dread of acting;

Safe in a blanket, you lay embraced in arms of thread.

The warmth battling the fears and cold.

You start to relax,

As you find comfort and security.

The cotton reminding you,

“A day afraid, does not make you weak.”

The war is not yet over.

Tomorrow will be better,

Your joy like everyone else’s.

For today, relax in the haven of a blanket;

Be aware of your battle, your daily journey to success.

Tomorrow you will rise with the sun,

And sing along to your alarm.

For even the mighty trees, standing so tall,

Loose their leaves, when it comes time for fall.

Your strength like a river,

Hitting a few rocks,

But you shall overcome them.

For you are the mountain, unmoved by the wind.

You are the blanket, untouched by the cold.
