Sadness

It’s not sadness.

It’s a dark, endless pit

Of emptiness

And despair

And darkness.

It’s not sadness.

It’s a song that never ceases

To make you cry.

It is the tears

Of endless emotion

And heartache.

It’s not sadness.

It’s a long,

E  n  d  l  e  s  s  ,

And barren winter

That is devoid of light

Or life.

It’s not sadness.

It’s an empty room of isolation

Where no one comes to look for you,

Where you feel all

Alone.

But wait!

It’s not sadness.

It’s a dark pit

With a ladder that leads

To LIGHT.

It’s not sadness.

It’s water that washes

And cleanses

And refreshes

And renews.

It’s water that runs

Over your soul.

It’s not sadness.

It’s the end of winter.

It’s the first light of the spring.

It’s a new beginning

That brings hope.

It’s not sadness.

It’s comfort.

It’s a knowing

That you are

Not alone,

That there are others who care.

It’s not sadness.

It’s a motivator.

It’s an inspiration.

It’s a reason to

Be a person for others,

So that no one else

Ever feels that same

Sadness.
