Sacrifices

Sacrifices

Luke 13:1-2

Repent or Perish

13 There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered such things?

A sacrifice to idols ... their life was to be taken.

Given to the reasons ... this world does invent.

Spilled blood to “gods” ... of many other people

is it not that the way it goes ... as we seemingly repent?

Let someone else pay ... for the life we are living.

Let it be paid ... by the best we can find.

In that way, you show our “god” ... how we love the giving.

It makes us feel so good ... to be so very kind.

After a while ... we really start believing

that we don’t need ... to give the best.

The “god” of our making ... should be happy in receiving

what we want to give him ... leftovers from the rest.

To give of ourselves ... we can’t comprehend.

If we’re not around ... who can worship “god”?

We will sacrifice the ones ... who themselves can’t defend it.

Our “god” will be happy ...  believe it or not.

So we spill the blood ... of the cripple and the lame,

the old folks and the aborted ... we think should go first.

We are winners now for sure ... in a losing game,

until the day we die as Christ won’t quench our thirst.
