In A Rut
Location
Your mind is ill-equipped
To handle the weight put on it.
There are puddles of neglect
You step knee deep and still stumble.
Others appear born able
Whereas, you come off as unstable.
Keep it buried, hold it in
And hide how you feel, once again.
These thoughts hide from plain sight
Yet, crave to be shown the daylight.
It is like you missed out
On learning to sidestep a rut.
Mom says forgive, and forget
Clad as the Devil’s Advocate.
You allow things to bother you
Maybe, ignore how they hurt you.
In no way does it matter
That the buildup leaves you shattered.
You are fine, rinse and repeat
Ignore the skips in your heartbeat.
Keep repeating this, believe
Mention it, and everyone leaves.
You, stuck in a size eight shoe
Can’t ever figure out what to do.
