Russian Roulette

The last of our time

Together was spent

Playing a game

Of Russian roulette

Placing the round

Inside of the chamber

The cylinder spinning

With random behavior

Screaming in silence

The gun at my head

He teases the trigger

Again and again

His knuckles are white

His finger pulls in

A gut-wrenching click

Where a bang might have been

I let out a breath

He lowers the gun

The bullet is loaded

The cylinder spun

He hands me the piece

He tells me to aim

He says that we’re destined

To finish the game

His head meets the barrel

His eyes unafraid

He’ll never tell you

The sound that it made
