Growing deeper and deeper into the ground,
As the years pass by, hoping this decision was sound.
This once new place they now call their own,
Accepted these roots, and gave them a home.
Swaying in the wind, these old trees have danced,
The howling wind brings back memories,
Putting them in a trance.
Back to the days when friends moved away,
Digging up their roots,
When they thought they would stay.
Turns out the soil rolled over,
Replacing the spots,
But their hearts wouldn’t turnover,
The memories of yesterday.
Although things may change,
The roots remain strong,
Intertwined like the notes of a song.
