The roommate

Skin that absorbs the rays of a thousand suns

We fight for appreciation but really we’ve already won

With hair that defies the forces pulled down from within the earth

We have always been royalty even before birth

And she has the nerve to look at me as if I am the one who doesn’t have enough brain the think

True be told it’s only a few years before she and all her friends are extinct

Not to mention the pale faces and dull straight hair

If we were discussing, she could never compare

She would try to down me on every chance she got

But I had to remind her who I was cause I think she forgot

See, she’d gotten way too comfortable with her words written in text

And it slipped her mind that I was being kind but I had to put her in check

But not once did I step off of my throne to deal with her aggressions

I carried myself so swiftly wearing every inch of my complexion

See, she was truly jealous of this curly haired, natural black queen

And she knew that I was more beautiful than anything her white eyes had ever seen
