I look up at my idols

wishing how I could be like them

how their words could raise an army

how their colors fit just right

how their songs can elevate me

I wish I could be like them

 

And so I tried to write stories

but my words had no path

And so I tried to draw

but my legs looked stiff

And so I tried to sing my own songs

but the notes would not harmonize

I don't know how to be as good as them

But how I wished to be like them!

 

Could I ever be as good as them?

An average girl with a misspelled name?

No, I could never stand up so tall

 

But one day, someone told me,

I wish I could be like you

 

Then I wished

that I could be like her

So that maybe,

I could like being me
