On the Rocks
Life is but a single day on a beach
A series of waves
crashing, splashing
a sun sinking just beyond our touch
it goes black, we're told
it comes back, we're told
but still we're here just a day
The glass is half full
as long as you're still thirsty
until you aren't
and you don't hear the squawking
you don't feel the waves
you seep into the water
you settle under the sand
Life is a beach,
my sandcastle gonna be dope
this beach ball gonna need air
and my skin gonna need lotion
Motivation is fleeting
the sun is sinking
such is life
but for now,
the sun's bright
and things have yet to fall apart
so maybe it's just instinct
when I'm still scared of the dark
