I tend to sit things down unfinished
But you could spit out a song in ten minutes.
Your feelings hit paper, tear stained and tattered,
After the promise of forever was shattered.

I assure you, it's not you, it's me;
I keep myself from being happy.
I grew up too fast, so you didn't have to.
Now I've got a rock and 600 miles to the next hard place.
I can't see you, so I'm singing what I'd say:
I wish that I could find a way
To hear the song you wrote about me;
Told me you ripped it up and forgot it
But you know every verse and the chorus, too,
'Cause I remember every line
I ever wrote about you.

Don't ever change; I did it for you.
Now I've got a habit to break: I still adore you.
I guess the thing about 'more than friends'
Is the lines blur when perfection ends.
