The Ringing of Bells

Location

The bells are ringing

But is this ring heard?

Do people stop to say any words?

When a bell is rung

is it silent? No

When a bell is rung it calls out just so

a reverberation

a signal to what surrounds

And yet I ask you

Do our tears make a sound?

The bells are ringing

But do others care?

if a person is friendless

if nobody's there

for them when they need

just someone to say

that everything's fine

You'll make it today

The bell has been ringing

it's desperate now

it's trying so hard

it doesn't care how

it needs someone's love

to take it above

to make it's voice louder

and give it more power

the pain and the sorrow

distinguish it's sound

The kind of ring that would make your heart pound

a melancholic rythm to a desparing drum

but then it goes silent

and its song is done
