Ring song

Ring song

Go tell the world
how close you cleave,
my ring.

No! Wait! — The world
has little care
to pause and hear
you sing.

Tell her who gave
herself and you,
how tight you grow
and cling.

You are both cell
and manacle
to hold me.

Yet tell how freely
her ring I wear;
sing how gladly
I, her prisoner,
have let her love
engold me.
