Ribcage

Location

Ribcage

Open your ribcage

To try and see the thing inside

That threatens to drag you under

The hunger causes it

It eats away at you

Gives you dead eyes

And fuzzy thoughts

It nags at you

Forcing you under again and again

Especially when you think you want to escape

Reminding you that you’re not good enough

You’re fat and ugly

Nobody will love you

You don’t deserve it

You’re hollow from the outside in

Not really alive

Just a shell of a dying body

Walking around pretending to be real

You can’t see it

You could die

But you don’t care

Hell, maybe you should

When you try to overcome

It calls you back

Whispering your name in the dark

Telling you lies

Trying to pull you back under

It wants you to see your ribcage

So you’ll want to pull it open once more

You feed it by not feeding yourself

It likes it this way
