"Worthless."

"Selfish."

"Hopeless."

Walk down the hall,

A glance to the left,

A glance to the right,

The voices never stop.

The voices never cease.

Others laugh and smile,

So does that mean I do?

The voices laugh too,

But they laugh for a different reason.

Put on a mask, hide under a hoodie,

But that won't stop the anguish.

Laugh louder than the voices,

Ignore the words circling inside,

But they will come back in the hush.

There is strength behind the mask.

The voices hide it, but others still see it.

They see the determination, the courage,

The burning blaze behind the eyes.

Anguish may whisper in my ear,

But nothing will destory the resilience.

Through death, through sickness,

Through depression, through pain,

Resilience refuses to back down.

The hopes and dreams of my future

Are too bright to be snuffed out

by a few wrong decisions.

Watch that burning light shine in me,

Because you know nothing

Absolutely nothing

Will pull me down.
