Remembering stars

Dear friend,

I know you miss this place

I know you've forgotten what it holds,

but let me tell you I was once told

each star is a person's hope

so the shine of one star is the hope of one person

so let me welcome you back to L.A.

where our sky isn't pitch black, but gray

polluted by the demanding society that comes our way

where you struggle to see faith and belief

only to have that relief taken away once you see that hope isn't real

it's just the light of an airplane designed to help you feel

because we know all too well that false hope takes people away

even if it isn't visible in the light of day

well, maybe it is and i just can't tell

if i still have hope it matters not

because I've seen people left to rot

after having seen the stars stolen from their eyes

And i know you miss this place

But i don’t want to see the sorrow on your face

So if you decide to return

Please know,

That i don’t want you to let your hope go
