Release Me

You smell like heartbreak and vodka on the rocks,

I'm not crazy,

but I'm also not in love.

You look so alive with those teardrops in your eyes,

and I love when you leave cause it brings me peace.

It's sadistic, I know

and I've been trying to let it go

but my pride is standing in the wind

and it's not blowing away anytime soon.

Only the soft of hearts can really fall in love

and mean every word that spews from their lips.

I don't know who we are,

but I know who I was before you came and ruined all of it.

Now I'm alone and I don't pick up the phone,

because I like my lonely presence more than you.

Yes,

I know,

I've heard it all before

you can't let me go, that's what they've been saying to me

and it's annoying.

You're in love, I know

I can see it in your eyes when you sit there

watching the way that I move.

But it's not my fault,

so just let me go,

release me out into the world on my own.
