The Reasoning of an Actress

I’m an actress,

not because I hide my face behind masks,

my personality in characters,

my feelings in my façade.

I’m an actress,

I am brave

I do not cower under the orbs of a thousand strange gazes

all waiting,

watching,

wanting,

needing to be entertained.

I’m an actress,

The melody from my parted lips, serenading

the words from my tongue, captivating

the expressions of my visage, thralling

the movements from my form, dancing in the light

it is an expression,

an extension of myself

I’m an actress,

a projection

an extention

an illusion and a constant

Do we do it for the applause?

The Fame,

The Thrill,

The Rush?

I am an actress,

it’s a need in me that’s sated when I perform

an unparalleled happiness that nothing else gives me

and to be honest,

I have no idea why.
