Raymond

Sat, 06/29/2013 - 22:04 -- NYbound

Raymond lived across the road
In a trailer with a mother cat and five kittens
And another four kittens under the trailer
Whose mama cat was killed on the road
And the inside mama wouldn’t feed them
So animal control came and took them away
And Raymond cried

Raymond lived across the road
With garbage cans over-full and unprotected
From the bears and raccoons that come at night
Even the one raccoon that got its head stuck inside a jar
And ran around unable to eat or drink
So Raymond tried but couldn’t catch it
And Raymond cried

Raymond lived across the road
With a wobbly cinderblock shed of flammables
And a leaf blower that fanned the flames
Meant for piles of brush
But rather caught the shed
So all the things within exploded
And Raymond cried

Raymond lived across the road
In his trailer set on concrete blocks
Beside the creek
Just waiting for the cloudburst that toppled it
And sent it crashing down the creek
With Raymond trapped inside
And we all cried
