The Rain Dance

Gusts of wind fly past the house
Large gray puffs roll in
Drip drip drip on the roof
And then the puddles begin

Peering out the window
A girl just under ten
Wishing wanting yearning
For the clear drops on her skin

Dashing up the stairs
To where her jacket hides
Searching through the mess
To find where it resides

Yellow rubber attire
Covers head to toe
Ready for adventure
Outside is where to go

Sloshing through the water
Jumping to and fro
Watching water collect
And the new rivers flow

Dancing in the rain
Belting out the bliss
Feeling the water hit her
Like a little droplet kiss

Hear her name, Eliza
Carried in the air
The rain dance is over
Much to her despair

A quick wave goodbye
To her new befriended
A flash of colors through the sky
Shows that it has ended
