Rain

I used to love the summer days

Her blinding eyes, her sauna smile and her laugh we'd forget every night

The secrets she would whisper over flames and under stars until we'd close our eyes

Hands in hands

Hearts on tongues

Sweaty kisses

And fresh burns

I used to love the summer days

And all of her colors in the sky

I used to love the summer days

Her smoky skin, her flaming touch and kiss we'd escape to at night

Her fiery hair, hot breath and luring crescendos in lullabies

Fingers in hair

Lips on cheeks

Echoes on valleys

And busy streets

I used to love the summer days

And all of her colors in the sky

I used to love the summer days

Her barren chest, her bloodless heart so cracked we'd slip in

Her wilting lashes, her singed lids and raven eyes that lock everything in

Yellow grass

Broken blades

Thirsty mountains

Betrayed

I used to love the summer days

And all of her colors in the sky

Yes I used to love the summer days

Fallen petals

Broken leaves

Abandoned hearts

And wilting trees

And one night when the eart smelled like rain

The colors in her sky faded from red to gray

And as I waved goodbye

She didn't even look my way

So I realized all of the colors in her sky were renegade

So you keep your sunshine

And I'll keep my rain.
