A Quotation by Democritus

A quotation by Democritus, “Old men were once young, but it is uncertain if young men will reach old age.”

They warned me about things that will bring agony to me

The drugs that will captivate my life

Not the ones that I can buy and take on the street

The single one that consumes my everyday thoughts

But they never warned me about you

A different drug that devours my every being

The one with brown hair and hazel eyes

He brings me safety, anxiety, happiness, and heartache

With each word that rolls off of his lips

He pulls me in closer and closer

In years to come we our looks will fade but our love will still hold true

Strong and powerful just as now
