Prudence

Prudence can kill a man who does not follow its name.
Fame no matter how long, is short lived.
After a while,
no one regards the victorious man with the big meal to bring home to the family,
because if he does nothing the next day,
then they will starve.
Humble not is the man who murmurs of his accomplishments,
and a man he is not;
for there are only two of a kind who may lack discretion,
a child and death,
and even these two can keep silent.
Merit is most deserving to those who do not ask, and so is forgiveness,
and simply because I used the phrase “man” does not mean it doesn't apply to you, womyn.

The gossip of the tongue is fatal to both old and young,
whether these words are screamed or sung makes no difference to the ears of some.

If it is not to be spoken of, then do not speak it.
Prudence whether false or true is still prudence,
not pride, nor for it.
